Julie Sion and the Gatsby Soudure workshop shine at BIJORHCA
Craftsmanship at the heart of jewellery creation: a self-taught journey and the rise of gatsby soldering workshop Fifteen years ago, Julie Sion made her mark in the world of costume jewellery with a unique and passionate approach. "I stumbled into this profession a bit by chance," she admits. Self-taught, her first steps into creation were through a craft-focused approach, before collaborating with French workshops to ensure ethical and high-quality production for her eponymous brand. These collaborations led her to develop a strong and engaged community, not only around her creative project but also through the human values she upholds in her work.
In 2015, one of the soldering and assembly workshops that partnered with her brand announced its closure, causing a disruption in her production process. "I decided to take matters into my own hands," Julie recalls. Alongside her artisan partner, they took over the activity, giving birth to Gatsby Soldering, which has since become a key player in technical production for the jewellery world, serving a multitude of prestigious clients and houses such as Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent. "We have managed to create a real community of emerging brands, as well as a strong network with haute couture and major luxury houses," she adds.
The importance of human connection: Towards new collaboration opportunities…
After several years away, Julie Sion has returned to the BIJORHCA trade show alongside Who’s Next. "I came back to reconnect with my clients and buyers," she says, emphasising the crucial role of human interaction at these events. "BIJORHCA, in particular, stands out for its warm atmosphere, where cross-sector encounters pave the way for new collaborations." This edition also marks an important milestone for the brand, with Julie Sion's creations recently featured in the Netflix series Emily in Paris. "It’s great visibility for us, and it ties in perfectly with this event," Julie says excitedly.
At this edition of BIJORHCA, Julie Sion arrives with clear goals: to strengthen relationships with her current clients and explore new collaboration opportunities. "We’ve recently started working with international agents, particularly in the United States," she explains. These contacts help her consolidate her customer base and navigate an often complex economic landscape. However, for Julie, the goal remains the same: to build lasting relationships. "The Asian market, for instance, has been a focus for me since 2016, and I’m still exploring it."
Finally, Julie highlights the wealth of interactions and opportunities presented at this event, an evolution she has noticed since the pandemic: "There’s much more solidarity among creators now, it’s less competitive than before, and there’s a real sense of collaborative energy." This shift, for her, resonates with the very DNA of her brand and Gatsby Soldering: to create, collaborate, and move forward together.
