Amina Galal: a committed and multicultural fashion presence at Premiere Classe

Presenting for the first time at Premiere Classe, Amina Galal represents a new generation of Arab designers who blend tradition and modernity with a personal, emotional touch.

Her work reflects a rich multicultural story, inspired by her Egyptian roots and travels across the world. With a unique artistic approach and a strong social mission, Amina Galal uses her collections to tell stories that celebrate Egyptian craftsmanship and culture.

A multicultural journey and a quest for identity

Originally from Egypt, Amina grew up in different parts of the world, a journey that deeply influenced her work. “My father is a diplomat, so I’ve lived in Belgium, Cameroon, Qatar, Egypt… This cultural diversity gave me a wealth that I try to express through my designs,” she explains. This quest for identity also drove her to embrace and rediscover her Egyptian roots: “I draw as much from my culture as from my journey to create an interaction between these two worlds.”

A graduate of the prestigious Parsons Paris, Amina initially worked at Louis Vuitton in the men’s ready-to-wear department under the creative direction of Sarah Williams. After this enriching experience, she embarked on her own design journey, encouraged by positive feedback and the desire to follow her own path.

A collection in continuous evolution

For Amina Galal, each collection is part of a greater whole, an unfolding story. Her current collection showcased at Premiere Classe is the second volume of her debut collection. “I think it’s a shame to limit a rich idea to just one collection. That’s why I develop my collections in volumes, like chapters of a book,” she explains. Volume 1 is a winter collection, while Volume 2 explores the same concept in a summer version. “This allows the story to be pushed further and gives each collection the time to fully develop.”

Egyptian craftsmanship at the heart of her designs

Amina works exclusively with Egyptian craftswomen, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds. Her goal is to highlight traditional artisanal techniques while giving them a contemporary twist. “I wanted to modernise traditional Egyptian techniques and make them more desirable in today’s market. It’s also a way to revive a craft that risks disappearing if it isn’t modernised,” she explains.

Her unique technique, developed with her team, blends crochet, weaving, and knitting, creating a visual effect that is both artisanal and sophisticated. “Our pieces may look machine-made, but everything is done by hand,” she clarifies. Each garment carries a label detailing the name of the artisan who made it and the number of hours spent, highlighting the significance of craftsmanship in her creative process.

A mission: giving voice to Arab creators

Beyond fashion, the Amina Galal brand carries a broader mission: to give a voice to Arab designers in a context where their culture is often misrepresented. “We live in a time where Arab culture is often misunderstood or diluted. It’s crucial for us, Arab artists, to tell our own stories and reclaim the narrative of our cultural identity.” This desire for reclamation lies at the heart of her work.

Her current collection draws strong inspiration from Cairo and the way Egyptian culture has evolved under the influence of globalisation. “Modern Egypt is a blend of influences, a kind of cultural heterotopia, and it’s this richness that I want to share with the world,” she explains.

Premiere Classe: an international platform for emerging designers

Amina sees Premiere Classe as a unique opportunity to share her creations and message with an international audience. “It’s a perfect mix of press, buyers, and creatives, an incredible synergy where everyone meets and collaborates,” she says. Although this is her first time participating, Amina has already made promising connections and is optimistic about her brand’s future.

She also highlights the importance of better visibility for Arab designers on the international stage: “There are very few Middle Eastern designers here, and I think the international market should pay more attention to them. We have an incredibly talented community of designers, and I am honoured to be one of the few here representing this richness.”

Amina Galal: promising future prospects

With a collection rooted in tradition yet forward-looking, Amina Galal positions herself as a key voice in contemporary Egyptian fashion. Her approach, at the intersection of craftsmanship, modernity, and social engagement, resonates with a new generation of consumers seeking meaning and authenticity. As she continues to develop her collections, Amina remains true to her vision: celebrating Egyptian craftsmanship while redefining the role of Arab designers on the global stage. Premiere Classe marks an essential step in her journey, paving the way for her brand’s future and the paths that lie ahead.
