Premiere Classe welcomes two winners of the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris 2023
As a partner of the Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris, Premiere Classe is inviting Domestique - Prix Accessoires de Mode, and Clara Daguin - Grand Prix Mode, from 1 to 4 March 2024.
Discover two daring talents not to be missed!
Clara Daguin: between technology and craftsmanship
She's the new designer that international stars love to wear. Björk, Nigerian singer Burna Boy, artist Vladana Vučinić at Eurovision 2022... Whoever wears Clara Daguin does not go unnoticed. It has to be said that this young Franco-American woman doesn't do things like everyone else. Her credo is to imagine pieces that interact with the body and/or the environment, creations that are a cross between haute couture and technology.
Clara Daguin is an artist, designer and engineer who grew up in Silicon Valley. After graduating in graphic design from California College of the Arts in 2009, she spent six months in India before returning to France, where she gave free rein to her passion for fashion. With a master's degree in fashion design from Ensad in Paris under her belt, she followed this up with an internship at Margiela, before taking part in Hyères in 2016. Her brand was created in the immediate aftermath. I benefited from the fashion tech craze," she explains. But I undoubtedly owe my longevity to the fact that I combine technology and craftsmanship".
On her dresses, jackets and tops, she attaches and embroiders integrated electronic circuits, microprocessors, batteries, cables, LEDs, optical fibres and light and temperature sensors.
Clara Daguin hires out her couture pieces, but also sells more affordable items on her website, such as a glow-in-the-dark cap.
From March 2024, she has been invited by La Redoute to work on a summer collab. To be discovered: a sporty wardrobe - a dress, trousers and a bomber jacket - with reflective materials.
Domestique takes leather goods by storm
Behind this enigmatic name are Bastien Benny and Simon Delacour. Long-time friends with no shortage of ideas, in 2016 they launched their leather goods brand inspired by desire and sado-maso bondage. "One of the first objects we created was an 'ass slapper'," Bastien Beny laughs.
Since then, the duo has explored other territories and developed a broader vision, always with the idea of shaking up the world of accessories, to the rhythm of handmade-to-order production. With a focus on sourcing, the environment and manufacturing, each piece is made entirely by hand. We want our products to be made in France, and even in Paris from our workshop in La Caserne," they explain. We pay attention to every detail, especially the choice of skins, to ensure that everything meets our quality requirements."
A genuinely creative laboratory, with Domestique the waiting ticket you pick up at the butcher's or health centre is transformed into a leather key ring laser-engraved with the words "made on the spot", the paper shopping bag is transformed into a leather bag imitating the craft effect, and the traditional shopping basket is given an ultra-worked leather version. Meanwhile, the fruit crate is revisited in colourful, vegetable-tanned calf leather from Normandy.
